Big Brother Food Tempering Scandal Recap

Big Brother Food Tempering

On August 13 at 12:08am in the U.S. Big Brother house, with fellow houseguests Danielle and Kalia present, Porsche Briggs stirred a large amount of Metamucil into the house container of Muscle Milk mix.

For those who don’t know, when houseguest are put “on slop” as part of the food competitions in the Big Brother game, the houseguests are only allowed to eat the hard oatmeal like slop, and to make sure they have full nutritional needs met Muscle Milk. Now the house Muscle Milk has been tampered with by a fellow houseguest.

In previous seasons things along these lines have come up, hiding or destroying others personal items, or the worst similar case when one houseguest used another’s toothbrush to scrub the toilet. In the case of the toothbrush the houseguest was made to throw away the toothbrush, and tell the other members of the house what she had done, but this was many years ago, and the show has become much more malicious, and more willing to risk things like violence among the Big Brother participants, and as of this morning it seems they have not taken any action to remove the tampered food, punish the offending houseguest, or let the others in the house know that the Muscle Milk has had Metamucil mixed with it.

There are very clear laws against any food tampering, even if it would only cause minor disconfort, and if a co-worker in a more traditional job were to do something like this they would risk prosecution.

Will the Big Brother producers or CBS take action, or will they just consider it covered by the reality show contracts that attempt to absolve the television networks of all responsibility for anything and everything that happens to the contestants regardless of what the law says?

For reference the FCC under the Bush administration stated that they consider reality shows scripted fiction, like wrestling, rather than federally regulated game show competitions, that could change at any time, but the Obama administration, even their FCC, is likely focused on other things right now.
